GEMBALLA GOES ALL-IN AT SEMA 2017
RENOWNED German tuning house, Gemballa was yet another European powerhouse to use SEMA 2017 as a launching pad for their wicked 618kW monster.
This potent transformation of Porsche’s venerable 911 Turbo is simply called the Gemballa GT. Based on the current Porsche 911 Turbo, the GT’s muscular wide-body, modified front and rear spoiler, side skirts, conspicuous rear wing and fat rubber are all immediately obvious. However, the 618kW (828hp) sting in the tail is the real hero of the show. Gemballa was looking to set new Porsche tuning benchmarks with this car with the zero-to-100km/h sprint taking just 2.38 seconds. And with a top speed of more than 360km/h – it looks like they’re pretty much on-track. Lap records at Nürburgring, Hockenheimring and Sachsenring back their performance claims.
To cover the fat 255/30ZR21 (Fr) and 325/25ZR21 (Rr) rubber wrapped around 9.0-inch and 12.0-inch forged, mono-block wheels, Gamballa has added 30 and 50mm guard extensions. The aero package manages to stick the sleek supercar to the tarmac without killing off top speed. However, to take the 3.8-litre boxer engine’s power from 397kW (standard) to 618 (at 7000rpm), Gemballa incorporated new intake manifolds, redesigned carbon fibre airboxes, upgraded turbos, reworked cylinder heads, new valves, larger throttle bodies, sports exhaust, plus re-mapped engine and gearbox ECUs. Bringing it all to a halt is Gemballa’s carbon-ceramic sports brake system, comprising six-piston callipers and thick 380mm rotors up front, with four-piston callipers and 360mm rotors at the other end.
If you like your Porches scorching hot, add the Gemballa GT to the top of your Christmas wish list.
